When I first started this I was like, "Right, I'm gonna track down real wolf faces and NAIL fur direction". In the past, I've sort of just painted fur spiralling out from the nose, and it looks okay.. But thats not how animals fur lays.. It takes all these contours. So I found all the ref I could, and tried to mimic that same fur-laying direction..
I think the final effect is a new type of Anthro-Portrait for me.. The bars been raised, just as it was when I tried new Armor methods.
I also experimented for yonks trying to nail Hair that matched Fur. I've said this in the past, but the main issue with realism Anthro, is that Animals do not have a hair line. So more often than not, it looks like a wig, and it's not like you can show the hair coming out of the skin, because they're covered in fur, which hides that. So I went for a very straw like, and coarse hair, more similar infact to a horses tail, than human hair.. And I think by keeping it "Feral", it actually blended for once.
Anyway, I doubt anyone even reads this shit. I also have step-by-steps of the painting that I may post if people are curious.
