Aiie - Shaishot - CBust

So I really shouldn't be uploading this, as it hasn't recieved the thumbs up yet. It's currently sat in her inbox. But I really liked how it turned out so I'm submitting it now, and I'll edit it if she wants any tweaks.

Gotta say, this was a tough one to paint in realism. With elements such as the greeny-blonde hair, and the dark red skin with the luminescent scales, I really struggled with getting the right blend. It's one of those characters that works well in a cel-shaded format, but when transferring to realism, I had to take a few liberties with the design to get it looking authentic.

One of those was adding more blue to the skin, to compliment the orange luminescence in the original design. And also making it a Dusk light-theme, so I could darken the muddy-blonde hair enough so that it didn't distract from the skin, or worse still, take away from the Fish vibe. I originally had her with an exact colour pick of the Reference I was given, but really struggled making her more Fish, and less Lizard.

I really hope she doesn't reject the tweaks I made, (with the incorperation of blue to balance the orange), because I honestly don't know if I can make the composition work any other way. ; ;

Not to say the orignal character design wasn't awesome, but just to say that this is one of those cases, where the transition to realism had to have some major tweaks in order to get a solid looking painting. ; ;
